Leaps and bounds. . .

Lucas seems to have taken another huge leap this week. He is suddenly trying to learn to talk. Before, we could barely get him to try to mimic sounds, but now he seems to "get it." His first real word may have been "ity" which definitely means "Stitchy" which is what we call our yorkshire terrier. He also says "Aah" when refering to the lab "Jack". He is trying to say "Nana" for banana and "hee-hee-hee" for the sound a horse makes. I am amazed at the way it seemed to just click this week. Now that the ball is rolling, I am sure it will be one word after another.

Another nose job. . .

Lucas had to have his nose surgery redone. The right nostril had mostly closed again. The procedure went fine. The doc does not believe he will need this again, although we will have to go back for another check-up or two. In recovery, Lucas was extremely irritated with anyone wearing scrubs, but he did not seem to hold Chris and me responsible. Once we got home, he was playing and nearly back to his old (15 month old) self.

The doc also decided to put a tube in his right ear. Fixing the nostril may have eliminated the fluid, but this is a critical time for learning speech. Lucas has somethings to say, so he is anxious to speak English. We will have to deal with ear plugs for swimming and bathing this summer, but that is the only real downside.
